Spiritual Attributes of a hummingbird

Despite being such a delicate little thing, a hummingbird flies 2000 miles to reach its destination, spreading its joy on the path. A seeker can learn to endure the long journey of Sadhana with curiosity, joy, and playfulness, just like a hummingbird.

Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backward. This underlines the importance of knowing where you have come from. Like a hummingbird, a seeker should be able to introspect on past mistakes, learn from them, never repeat them. He should heal his emotional wounds from the past while keeping his eyes on the future.

Hummingbirds have great control over their flight. They can stop abruptly in mid-air, and they can gain speed suddenly, without much effort. Hummingbirds teach a seeker to utilize his energy consciously. It leads to being flexible in achieving goals, gaining complete control over emotions, and over the body to complete the Sankalp (resolution).

Hummingbirds live by drinking nectar from the flowers. It guides a seeker to taste various flavors of life. A garden of human life has many flowers to offer, with a variety of nectar. Hummingbird teaches us to experience and process all emotions equally well. If one flower is empty, Hummingbird goes to the next flower in search of nectar. A seeker should be like a hummingbird, never disappointed by the failures, self-motivation, and looking at the brighter sides.

To extract the nectar from a flower, it needs great precision and balance, and Hummingbird can balance and float in the air almost effortlessly. A seeker can learn about balancing all aspects of life without missing the focus from these birds. Whether relationships, emotions, beliefs, or actions, balance is necessary to enjoy the nectar from the flower of life itself.

Fears, anxieties, tensions, sadness, or negativities can weigh you down. The very low body weight of the Hummingbird signifies that the seeker must be light-hearted and easy-going. They were walking on the path of spirituality does not mean carrying the burden of the entire world on your shoulders. A seeker can enjoy his flight by letting go of fears and anxieties, just like a hummingbird does it.

Hummingbirds are persistent and courageous birds. Their erratic invisible flight pattern teaches us to believe in what we cannot see. They teach us to trust in our abilities like intuition, physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. We hope this blog helped you to gain some insight into the spiritual significance of a hummingbird.
