Right eye twitching: what is it trying to say?

The eyes are possibly the most important sensory organs to us. Looking in someone’s eye while talking to them is considered a sign of honesty. Spiritually speaking, the eyes represent the sixth sense, omniscience, higher intellect, vigilance, and higher moral values. They are called windows of the soul. When one of these windows starts twitching, it could mean various things, depending on geography, time, and culture. Let’s take a look at them.  

Medically speaking

 There are various medical reasons behind twitching the eye. It’s a phenomenon caused due to the result of involuntary and repetitive eyelid muscle contractions. It is a medical condition called Myokymia or Blepharospasm. Even though it is harmless, it could last for a while and could be irritating. Medical reasons behind twitching the eye include insufficient sleep, bad eyesight, eye infection, or damage to eye muscles. It may also arise from extreme and prolonged focusing on one object, excessive alcohol intake, emotional imbalance, vitamin deficiency, or poor air quality. These are the physical reasons behind it. But what could cause this in the first place? Let’s decipher the spiritual side of it.

In Hinduism

 Ancient Sanatana scriptures are filled with incidents depicting eye twitching and its effects, but it depends upon gender. If you are male, and your right eye is twitching, it means good luck, but being a woman, it’s considered bad luck if your right eye is twitching.

If the pupil of the right eye is twitching, it shall bring good luck, and if the upper part of the right eye twitches, it means you will be blessed by Divine Mother Laxmi and soon be receiving money. On the contrary, if your lower eyelid is twitching, you will lose some money. If your right eyebrow is twitching, it could mean that you shall be receiving good news, probably announcing the birth of a child in your family.

In Chinese culture

 In China, the right eye is associated with the disaster, and the left with the money. They have specified the time zones, accurately denoting the meaning. If your right eye twitches in the morning, it signifies you’ll have a good day today. From 9 to 11 in the morning, it means you are about to argue with someone close to you. During noontime, if your right eye twitches, it announces a stroke of bad luck.

Post lunch till evening, if you experience a twitch in the right eye, it means someone is romantically thinking of you. Until sunset, if you share a twitch in the right eye, a foreigner shall visit you. From this time to dinner, if your right eye twitches, you will be invited to a large party to celebrate. And if you are experiencing fluttering the right eye after dinner and before midnight, it’s a bad omen that you might face difficulty in court.

West Indies

 West Indies have a rich heritage and culture, and they hold different conceptions when it comes to eye twitching. They refer to eye twitching as eye jumping, and when they feel their right eye is jumping, it could be due to the following reasons.

They believe that if their right eye is jumping, they are about to hear good news. If they feel a twitch in the right eye and the eyebrow, it indicates someone is saying nice things about you. It also says that you are about to meet someone you have not seen for a long time, perhaps an old friend. So, in a nutshell, right eye jumping is considered the announcement of positive things that are about to come in your life when it comes to the west indies culture.

South America

 In South American culture, the right side of the body is generally considered the good side, and the left side is regarded as the troublemaker. If someone is experiencing the twitch in the right eye, it could be foretelling a birth in the family. Even though this twitch could not be interpreted as the birth in every incidence, it represents a positive transformation in life, perhaps a new relationship, job, or dawning of a new phase in life.

 The meaning of eye twitching in astrology is highly specific and based on case to case of an individual. However, there are few basic rules which are applied to everyone. It’s considered a good sign when a man’s right eye blinks or twitches. It announces good news about one’s finances or career. This signifies a bright future and good fortune in the upcoming days.

When it comes to right-eye twitching, astrology does not consider it an auspicious sign in females. It announces the arrival of negativities in her life. It makes her aware of the future impediments and difficulties she might have to face. It might be related to her relationships, finances, or career.
