Low Self Esteem – Symptoms, Effects and Healing
“Why do you love me?” Sally was asking Mark for the tenth time tonight and he was honestly tired of answering her by now. He had told her he loves her because of how smart and intelligent she is, how she is beautiful both in body and in soul and how her compassion and kindness make him love her even more. But Sally’s low self-esteem wouldn’t let her believe him. She doubted herself so much that slowly she was causing Mark to doubt his reasons for loving her. Two months later, they broke up because now Sally was trying to push Mark away before he could dump her, or so she believed.
Above is one of the most common examples of low self-esteem killing a relationship. Besides killing romantic relationships, low self-esteem is often the cause of bad work relationships, friendships, and sometimes even marriages.
Lack of confidence in the self, victim mentality, trouble expressing yourself, and being unable to accept yourself are common symptoms of low self-esteem.
We have already dealt with the effects of low self-esteem; let’s now look at how we can heal it.
Healing Low Self-Esteem
Surround yourself with the Right People – You are the sum total of the five people you hang out with. So if people around you are dealing with low self-esteem or are in any way degrading you or pulling you down, it’s time to change company and friends. Don’t be afraid to cut cords and burn bridges because you can always build a new bridge later when the frequencies are constructive on both ends. For now, walk away and give way to new, encouraging people and possibilities.
Acknowledge, Accept, and Execute – If you feel you are lacking somewhere or something, leading to low self-esteem, then acknowledge the feeling of lack and accept it. A simple example is weight issues. If you feel overweight or underweight, the first step is to acknowledge this as a reason for your low self-esteem if it is affecting you and then accept it. Accepting it doesn’t mean that this is how I am and I need to deal with it, no. Accepting it means understanding how it is hampering you and accepting that this is your truth for now, but it can’t be your truth forever. Next comes execution – make a plan on how you can deal with your weight issues and lose or gain the required amount to make sure it never becomes an issue again. Also, be prepared to fail a few times before you become successful because changing years of conditioning and leaving comfort is difficult.
Seek Help – Sometimes, even after working on the self and being perfect in the eyes of others, individuals still deal with self-esteem issues. It’s even more difficult for them to find a solution because they are perfect in the eyes of the world. These are the times when you need to seek professional help. Google therapists or spiritual healers in your area and book an appointment. They have studied the human mind and can provide solutions and healing methods that might sound unconventional or extremely simple, but work like magic.
We hope the above tips help you deal with any self-esteem issues you might have. For more information on the same write into us at info@chamundaswamiji.com
