Maa Mahagauri: The Eighth Form of Navadurga
Maa Mahagauri is the eighth manifestation of Adi Shakti. As her name suggests, she possesses a radiant, fair complexion, often compared to the brightness of a pristine white flower. She is depicted as a four-armed, three-eyed goddess with a serene and compassionate demeanor. In her hands, she holds a damaru (drum) and a trident (trishul), while her other two hands are in the Abhaya Mudra (gesture of protection) and Varada Mudra (gesture of blessing), exuding divine grace and reassurance.
To attain Lord Shiva, Maa Mahagauri performed intense penance. Due to the severity of her Tapasya (austerities), her complexion darkened, but Lord Shiva, pleased with her unwavering devotion, bathed her in the sacred waters, bestowing upon her a luminous, milk-white form.
