Mangal Dosh is one of the most feared things in India, especially when it comes to married life. It’s one of the most infamous Dosh in Vedic astrology. In this blog, we are going to discuss some basics of Mangal Dosh.
Mars is considered a dry, hot planet, lacking any moisture. Lord Mangal is a celestial commander in chief of the Gods, and being the worrier, overly aggressive. And hence, for the same reason, Mars, on the few specific positions in the birth chart, represents the ego, extreme self-esteem, arrogance, and high temper when it comes to relationships, and hence, Mangal Dosh is feared by many of the couples.
Types of Mangal Dosh:
When Mangal lies in first, second, fourth, seventh, eighth, or in the twelfth home of the birth chart, astrological defects arise, which is termed, Mangal Dosh. There are particular effects for the presence of Mangal in these specific houses. Let’s look at them one by one.
1.Mars at the first house: The first house of the Horoscope is considered the spouse’s house. When a person affected by Mangal Dosh gets married to a non Mangalic spouse, it invites severe conflict. Many astrologers believe that this defect might lead even to physical violence, and hence, this should be treated as soon as possible.
2. Mars in the second house: If Mars lies in the second house of Horoscope, it leads to friction in married life, and it might even lead to a divorce. Astrologers often warn such people to be prepared for the possibility of divorce even in the second marriage.
3.Mars in the fourth house: The presence of the planet Mars in the fourth house of Horoscope invites financial troubles. A person will constantly be dissatisfied with his job and keep on changing his profession one by one, causing a financial crisis.
4.Mars in the seventh house: Mars in the seventh house invites a hot temper. The person will be highly dominating in the relationship, pushy and imposing, causing trouble in a relationship.
5.Mars in the eighth house: Eighth house for the planet Mars calls for lethargy. The person will be dull, slow, and stagnant and show signs of sudden bursts of anger. In addition, Mars in the eighth house indicates higher sexual libido and needs a partner with the same tendencies.
6.Mars in the twelfth house: Mars in the twelfth house creates mental unrest. The person feels inferior, and fails with such a horoscope, and is known to have problems dealing with people. Such people should be extra careful not to give in to extramarital affair tendencies.
Remedies for Mangal Dosh:
No one has control over his or her birth timings and planetary positions. There are several measures one can take to reduce or nullify the effects of Mangal on life. But with good Karma and devotion, one can seek a way out of it.
1. In India, often mock marriages are conducted, where the person with a Mangal in Horoscope marries an animal, or a tree, or inanimate object to nullify the effects of Mars. It is believed that the mal effect of Mangal falls on the fake spouse instead of the real one.
2. One can nullify the effects of Mangal by marrying a spouse with the same horoscope positions.
3. Every Saturday, one can visit the temples of Lord Hanuman to offer vermillion and oil to God to pacify Saturn. They are chanting “Om Shreem Hanumanteya Namaha” daily 108 times before meditation helps bestow the grace and protection of Lord Hanuman. Chanting Hanuman Chalisa every day also brings the desired effect.
4. Worshipping a banyan tree is known to nullify the effects of Mars. After the worship, one must make offerings of milk and sweets to the poor.
5. Mangal Dosh Nivaran Puja is considered the best remedy, which nullifies the unfavorable stars and grants blessings of all the Gods. Mangal Dosh Puja includes worship of Kalasha, Sapta Matrikas, 64 Yoginis, Navagraha, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva, along with the Yagya or the fire ritual.
One thing should be kept in mind, that one must seek the guidance of Astronomy professionals before taking up such rituals. Planets, Mantras, Yagyas have potent vibrations and energies which should be channelized under the supervision of the experts. However, when done with utmost commitment and devotion, these rituals grant the desired outcome when adhered to the rules.
