Complete Solar Eclipse – Do’s and Don’ts
A Solar Eclipse occurs when the Sun partially or completely disappears because the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. On December 4th, 2021, we will witness the Complete Solar Eclipse. In this blog, we discuss the spiritual significance, effects on our minds, bodies, and souls, and the basic guidelines we can follow to make the most of this astronomical event.
Spiritual Significance
Spiritually, Solar Eclipse is a symbolic portal for exponential growth, a time of rapid change, both internally and externally. The Sun represents a person’s external feelings, emotions, body, and mind. The changes before, during, and after the eclipse are rather uncomfortable because they may seem like forced changes. However, once complete, they lead to a whole new level of maturity, growth, and positive shift in perspective. People begin their positive transformations during this time and, more often than not, see them through. So while Solar Eclipses are feared due to the harmful effects of the rays when the Sun is covered, you will find that if you follow the spiritual guidelines, you can harness the energy of the eclipse to ascend spiritually.
Spiritual Guidelines During the Solar Eclipse
- Bathe Before and After the Eclipse –
Most spiritual seekers perform Sadhana during the Eclipse; bathing before a Sadhana comes as a necessary step. After the Eclipse, however, it is essential to bathe with cold water to safeguard you from harmful effects from the growth of microorganisms during the Eclipse. The cold water bath will also help stimulate the vagus nerve (connecting the brain to the abdomen), thus aiding in relaxation and digestion.
Spiritually, it helps the seeker clear out any negative thoughts, energies, or emotions that must have risen during the eclipse and start fresh with a new perspective.
- Eat Two Hours Before the Eclipse and Don’t Store any Food during the Eclipse –
The Sun’s blue and ultraviolet radiations act as natural disinfectants. However, during Eclipse, these radiations don’t perform their functions for obvious reasons, and hence there are high chances of food being infected during an Eclipse. Therefore, it is advisable to only eat light, easily digestible foods two hours before the Eclipse and make fresh food after the Eclipse is over to ensure you aren’t consuming food that can harm you in any way. Also, refrain from ordering any food online after the Eclipse as you can’t be sure of its freshness. It also helps to eat light food before the Eclipse since the Sun rays responsible for helping us digest our food would be absent.
The question then arises on what we can do with foods like grains and cereal that we store, and the solution is that you can keep a Basil Leaf in these containers to keep them from getting infected.
Having said the above, if you are pregnant, old, ill, or have a medical condition that requires timely eating, then please consult your physician and follow their advice.
- Meditate During the Eclipse
We are all aware that our minds are connected to the Moon, and our bodies are connected to the Earth. The Sun, however, is connected to both our mind and body. Therefore, when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are aligned during an Eclipse, it becomes a perfect time to Meditate, aligning our minds, bodies, and souls. Meditation during an Eclipse also balances and increases energy levels, helping us stay positive and energetic to carry out the positive transformation.
We hope this blog helps you understand the Solar Eclipse better and that you can make the most of this time.
