Well, here’s the scoop: It’s because exams are a big deal, and your brain knows it. Your brain is like a super-smart computer, and it wants you to do well. So, it’s like, “Hey, we better get ready for this!” That’s when all those nerves and hormones like adrenaline kick in.
But why does this pressure happen, and is there a way to make it easier to handle? That’s what we’re going to explore. So, are you ready to find out how to deal with it in a spiritual way? Let’s dive in together!
Deep Breathing: When you start feeling anxious, take a moment to close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold it for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. This calms your mind and relaxes your body, making it easier to focus.
Visualization: Close your eyes and imagine yourself walking into the exam room feeling calm and collected. Visualize yourself answering questions confidently and successfully. This technique helps build your belief in your abilities.
Positive Affirmations: Create positive statements about yourself, like “I am confident and capable” or “I am well-prepared for this exam.” Repeat these affirmations to yourself daily. They can boost your self-esteem and reduce self-doubt.
Prayer of Gratitude: If you have a spiritual or religious practice, use it to find solace and strength. You can pray or express gratitude for the opportunity to learn and grow through exams.
Nature Connection: Spend time in nature if possible. Take a walk in the park or sit by a tree. Nature has a calming effect on the mind and can help you feel more centered.
Yoga: Simple yoga poses and stretches like Child’s Pose (Balasana), Cat-Cow Stretch, Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana), Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani), and Easy Pose (Sukhasana) can help release physical tension and improve circulation, calm the nervous system, and promote relaxation. Yoga also encourages mindfulness and deep breathing.
Maa Saraswati Mantra Sadhana
Look for a calm, quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed. Sit down comfortably in a chair or on the floor. Sit with your back straight but not stiff. You can sit in a chair or cross-legged on the floor—whichever feels more comfortable.
Gently close your eyes. This helps you turn your attention inward. Start to pay attention to your breath. Feel the natural rhythm of your breath as you inhale and exhale. As you breathe in and out, silently count each breath. Count from 1 to 10, and then start over. This helps keep your mind from wandering. Repeat this process five to seven times.
As you breathe, imagine that with each exhale, you’re releasing tension and anxiety. Let go of any worries, and allow your body and mind to relax. If your mind starts to wander (which is perfectly normal), gently bring your focus back to your breath. When you begin to feel calm from within, begin chanting the bellow mantra:
“Aim Avanne Swaha”
This mantra is very powerful, belonging to the Divine Mother Neel Saraswati. The one who seeks knowledge and spiritual wisdom should chant this mantra for at least one hour daily while practicing meditation. Apart from improving intelligence, memory, and the power of fulfilling the resolution, this mantra is known for yielding a pearl of life-changing wisdom.
Try to meditate for at least 5-10 minutes, or longer, if you feel comfortable while chanting this mantra. Firstly, you might have to chant the mantra loudly, and then, a few seconds later, you can chant the mantra in your mind without moving your lips.
The more you practice, the better you’ll become at finding calm and peace within. When you’re ready to finish, take a few deep breaths and slowly open your eyes. Before you get up, take a moment to think about something you’re grateful for.
As you embark on your journey of conquering exam anxiety through spirituality, remember this: You hold the power to find peace within, and exams are but stepping stones on your path of growth. Embrace these practices, believe in yourself, and shine brightly in your academic endeavors.
