Four Key Traits of Spiritually Inclined Individuals

Spirituality is a way of life in which a person realizes the presence of energy, consciousness, and divinity. This realization then turns into further understanding and experiencing the ultimate truth about our world as we know and feel it. People, who attain the ultimate truth or begin walking on the path, are blessed with divine light and along with it wisdom that helps them merge with the Divine.

But how does one start walking the path? How does one know that they are in the right direction? How does one recognize a spiritually enlightened person? Sure, you have a Guru who guides you through but what about those of us who haven’t found a Guru yet?

Well here are some traits of those who are spiritually inclined and are on the right path.

Grace

Courtesy, goodwill, honor, manners, and elegance are all inherent qualities in a gracious person. But these qualities may very well be superficial if not backed by spirituality.

Let’s understand this through an example. Imagine you are in a hurry to reach the airport and you hail for a cab and out of the 15 cabs that pass you, one stops and lets you in. The driver drops you to the airport and you have ten minutes to spare before checking in. This scenario can be played in three ways, in one, you are thankless and you pay the driver, collect your bags and leave. In two, you murmur a quick thanks to the driver, pay him, and collect your luggage and leave. In the third one, you pay the driver, tell him how grateful you are that he stopped for you and dropped you just in time for your flight, appreciate his driving skills, maybe add a little tip, the driver helps you collect your bags and you leave.

The difference in the second and the third scenario is that in the second scenario you are thanking the driver out of mere formality and manner whereas in the third scenario, you are recognizing your luck, the spiritual powers at play, the driver’s efforts and are hence grateful from your heart.

Spiritually inclined people are naturally gracious because they understand the reason behind each of their actions, thus making everything they do full of grace.

Compassion

Since spiritually inclined people are more aware of the divine forces at play, they also recognize a part of the divine in every particle of the universe. This makes them naturally loving and compassionate towards every creature, organism, and object. They look at things with love and are hence able to empathize with people’s pains, issues, and situations instead of sympathizing with them. Certain spiritual people go through pain and issues in their own lives to be able to better understand the suffering of others.

Confidence

Confidence comes naturally to a spiritually inclined person because they have an understanding of their existence. They start realizing the power of their being and the spiritual powers in play that support them. The knowledge that God or the Divine are supporting your every action, thought and speech, automatically results in healthy self-confidence.

Self Awareness

A spiritually inclined person knows their strengths and weaknesses. They embrace both and start working towards converting their weaknesses into their strengths. When they err, they are quick to accept their mistake and apologize and when they are being falsely blamed for something, they also strongly stand for themselves. This strength comes from being self-aware and understanding one’s existence and role in the grand scheme of things.

If you are a spiritual person or are just starting, not all these traits will show up in you immediately. Some qualities take time to develop as your understanding and truth get clearer. So please don’t be disheartened if you don’t have them all at once. But you can start working towards it positively and strongly.
