Maa Siddhidatri: The Path to Moksha and Spiritual Enlightenment
The ninth and final form of Maa Durga is Maa Siddhidatri. She bestows immense supernatural powers (siddhis) upon her devotees when pleased. By granting wisdom about the true mysteries of life, she guides her devotees toward the path of liberation (moksha). Holding a discus (chakra), mace (gada), conch shell (Shankha), and lotus (kamal) in her hands, Maa Siddhidatri is seated gracefully on a lotus flower.
Worship and Mantras
To seek her blessings, devotees should chant the following mantra with devotion:
ॐ जयंती मंगला काली महाकाली कपालिनी। नमस्तेस्यै नमस्तेस्यै नमस्तेस्यै नमो नमः।।
Om Jayanti Mangala Kali Mahakali Kapalini | Namastesyai Namastesyai Namastesyai Namo Namah ||
For spiritual advancement and to enhance meditation practice, devotees can recite this mantra:
ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं सिद्ध दात्रय नमः।
Om Aim Hreem Kleem Siddhidatryai Namah |
Maa Siddhidatri and Her Divine Blessings
Maa Siddhidatri is also revered as Tripura Sundari. She is worshipped by celestial beings, sages, and humans alike. She grants divine, supernatural abilities to those who seek her blessings.
सिद्ध गन्धर्व यक्षाद्यैर सरैरमरैरपि। सेव्यमाना सदां भूयात् सिद्धिदा सिद्धिदायिनी।।
Siddha Gandharva Yakshadyair Sarairamarairapi | Sevyamana Sada Bhuyat Siddhida Siddhidayini ||
To please Maa Siddhidatri, devotees offer chana (chickpeas), halwa, puris, coconut, and kheer as prasad. These offerings are later distributed among young girls (Kanjaks), who are honored as divine manifestations of the Goddess. Devotees gift them clothes and accessories before seeking their blessings.
Observing Kanya Pujan (worship of young girls) at the conclusion of Navratri is considered essential for receiving Maa Siddhidatri’s divine grace. It is believed in Vedic astrology that those suffering from afflictions related to Mercury (Budh) or Venus (Shukra) in their birth charts should particularly observe this ritual. Additionally, individuals with Virgo (Kanya Rashi) affected by Rahu-Ketu should worship Maa Siddhidatri to remove planetary obstacles.
Maa Siddhidatri’s Ardhanarishwar Form
Maa Siddhidatri represents the Ardhanarishwar form of Lord Shiva—where divine masculine (Shiva) and divine feminine (Shakti) energies merge. This form radiates divine nectar, offering liberation to those who seek it. The mere contemplation of Maa Siddhidatri’s divine form fills the mind with devotion and peace.
Devotees wishing for material wealth and prosperity should worship Maa Siddhidatri while wearing red or green attire. Green is particularly associated with Maa Parvati and symbolizes happiness and prosperity. Offering Champa and Chameli flowers during prayers enhances the effectiveness of the worship.
