Vedic Astrology and Health: The Role of Planets and Chakras
In Indian astrology, or Jyotish, it is believed that the stars and the moon have a strong influence on our mental and physical health. For example, the moon affects our emotions and mind. When the moon is in a good position in our birth chart, we may feel calm and happy. However, if the moon is in a difficult position, it can cause mood swings, anxiety, or sleep problems. Similarly, other stars and planets have their own effects on different parts of our body and mind.
Each planet in our solar system is associated with specific body parts and health issues. For instance, the Sun is linked to our heart and stomach, while Mars affects our blood and muscles. If these planets are weak or negatively positioned in our birth chart, they might cause health problems related to these areas. By understanding these connections, we can be more aware of potential health issues and take steps to stay healthy, like following a good diet, exercising, and listening to our doctor’s advice. This way, Jyotish helps us understand and take care of our health better.
According to Vedic astrology, the planets and stars have a strong influence on our lives, including our health. Each planet is believed to affect specific parts of our body and can be linked to certain health issues. Let’s explore how different planets impact our health:
Jupiter: Jupiter is linked to the liver, kidneys, and pancreas. It can cause issues like excessive weight gain, fatty liver, and memory loss if it is weak.
Venus: Venus impacts the throat, face, and urinary system. Problems like ovarian cysts and throat issues can arise from a weak Venus.
Moon: The Moon influences our lungs, blood, brain, and eyes. It can cause insomnia, asthma, and, when combined with Saturn, problems like dry cough and diabetes.
Saturn: Saturn affects our legs, bones, and teeth. It can cause joint pain, arthritis, and physical weakness.
Rahu: Rahu can lead to serious health problems like cancer, breathing issues, and ulcers.
Ketu: Ketu is associated with the abdomen and can cause mysterious diseases, stomach pain, and physical weakness.
Sun: The Sun is connected to our stomach, heart, head, back, and eyes. Problems like high fever, migraines, and joint issues can be linked to the Sun’s position in our birth chart.
Mars: Mars affects our blood, chest, nose, and bones. It can cause issues like blood clotting, knee problems, and skin itching.
Mercury: Mercury rules the nervous system, skin, and thyroid. Mental disorders and ear problems can be related to Mercury.
Chakras and Their Influence on our body:
In Vedic astrology, our body’s chakras, or energy centres, are also connected to the planets. When a planet is weak, the chakra it governs may also be weak, leading to health issues. Here are the seven chakras and their related qualities and health concerns:
1. Muladhara (Root Chakra):

Understanding Medical Astrology
In medical astrology, it is believed that the planets and stars have an impact on our health. Each planet is associated with specific parts of our body and can influence certain health conditions. By understanding these connections, we can gain insights into our health and find ways to stay healthy. For example, if a particular planet is weak or in a difficult position in our birth chart, it might cause health problems related to the organs or body parts it governs.
Medical astrology doesn’t replace regular medical treatment but works alongside it. When we know which planets are affecting our health, we can take extra care of those parts of our body. For instance, if Mars is causing blood-related issues, we can focus on a healthy diet and regular check-ups to keep our blood in good condition. This way, astrology can guide us to pay attention to specific health areas while we follow our doctor’s advice and treatments.
Using both astrology and medical treatment together can help us achieve better health. Astrology can alert us to potential health issues, and medical treatment can provide the necessary care and remedies. By combining these two approaches, we can take a more comprehensive and holistic view of our health, ensuring we stay balanced and well.
The connection between astrology and health highlights the deep spiritual link between the cosmos and our physical bodies. By paying attention to the planets and their positions, as well as the state of our chakras, we can gain insights into our health and take steps to maintain balance and harmony in our lives.
