Work Is Worship
Do you feel that you cannot bring the balance between work and life anymore? Try to imagine why an almighty had to work for human welfare? Buddha, Rama, Christ, and Prophet Mohammad had achieved their respective enlightenment, even so, they worked among the humans and guided the respective civilization out of troubles. No work is small or big. Every work is important, and we must consider it as worship. It’s not a rule but a golden means to decide your vision, mission, and action for your work life.
Jesus was a carpenter (Greek- tekton). He was supposed to be the builder or creator. So did he build the path of humanity, forgiveness, compassion for his followers. He is supposed to mediate in the creation and new creation. He never leaves the poor and vulnerable behind and takes them into the kingdom. He forgives. This is something we forward to in our work life. Jesus’s work was to guide humanity and his work was his passion.
Passion is the ultimate source for a successful work profile. We always try to test our waters. A right mindset helps to inculcate passion in work life. And ultimately it is the passion that guides us in our actions, mind, and behavior in the work we do. For any work, passion is an energy and our vision is steering.
In work life, the vision should be 360 degrees. Rama was a king. He was a guardian of people who followed Dharma and destroyer of evil. But he was also a good friend, philosopher, protector of all, with values full of compassion, empathy, and truthfulness. These qualities helped him to establish Ramarajya (A rule of Rama, where everyone was happy). A monolithic vision is never a definitive answer. We should always try to add emotional quotients, values like compassion, empathy, and truthfulness so that our vision becomes comprehensive. A vision of multiple tastes also helps to open up new avenues.
Your work should have a bigger vision so that you can contribute bigger values like consistency.
Bhagavad Gita has taught us many lessons about life that are relevant in today’s times. It is a practical guide for actions that are must and an instruction for action practiced by the Karma Yoga alone can one aspire to perfection in one’s work life. In Bhagavad, Gita Krishna apprised a few essential work-life management factors – Efficiency, consistency.
Efficiency is the ladder that leads to successful work management. As a leader, you must be efficient in communication, transparency, faith in the work and vision of the company. For an employee, it is also important to be efficient so that he can successfully manifest the mission and vision of the company. Efficiency is a test to be fulfilled within the dimension of time. Time-bound work with quality is an efficient one.
While arranging your efficiency, Chamunda Swamiji advises his students to be more consistent than focusing on high and low.
Being consistent can help the company or the work to stand out successfully. Success should not always be measured on greatness. It is about consistency as well. Consistency is also a symbol of courage. When a person is strong enough internally, he can successfully focus on his work even if he fails. That’s why a spiritually and mentally healthy person can never taste a failure, but failure is just a new lesson for him. Consistency is at the core of hard work.
Hard work is a must-have quality. Any work from any field is never stable, just on knowledge or information. If Knowledge is rock, then hard work is the cement that is necessary for a stable building. So for a fruitful work profile, both employees and boss should be hardworking.
Millennials are targeting smart work more than hard work. It is possible to add more value than doing less. We should provide inputs from the black box. It doesn’t mean that we should skip the hard work. In a way, innovation is also hard work done smartly. So work-life balance is essential.
People often confuse themselves with work-life-balance. But these things are hard to separate. A mind connected to and dedicated to work-life is happiness for some people. So work is not a burden for everyone because of their mindset and attitude.
Hence, the peace has to be within you. As His Holiness Chamunda Swamiji suggests to us that when a person starts practicing Chakra activation, his attitude and perspective towards work life and family life becomes a positive one. So for every such student of Swamiji, to find peace within is a new opportunity to start a new life.
To find peace within your work life, try these methods suggested by Swamiji,
– Be mindful and live in the present. Enjoy every small act.
– Add qualities like forgiveness, compassion, empathy to your attitude.
– Try to worship the work you are interested in so you will stop hating Mondays
– Meditate. You can meditate sitting at your work table for five minutes. Focus on your breathing and let go of all emotional worries. Keep imagining goddess Kali or your deity.
– Use positive affirmation about your work life and success you want to see
